Andreas Schuster MD PhD MBA FESC FACC is a Professor of Cardiology and Consultant Cardiologist working at the Heart Centre in Göttingen, Germany (http://www.herzzentrum-goettingen.de/en/content/research/1849.html). His working group’s main research interests are cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology especially of myocardial viability, perfusion and myocardial deformation. The work includes both non-invasive quantitative assessments using state-of-the art noninvasive imaging and imaging guided interventional cardiac magnetic resonance (iCMR) procedures in various pathologies. Conditions studied include ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, systolic and diastolic heart failure, congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathies. The work includes clinical and preclinical validation of novel imaging biomarkers, the assessment of their utility and clinical importance as well as the assessment of prognostic information with the ultimate aim to improve clinical decision–making, management and outcome.
