Gerald Greil, MD, PhD

Dr. Greil studied medicine in Germany (Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatology), the United Kingdom, the US (Pediatric Cardiac MRI at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School), and Sweden. After working in Pediatric Cardiology/Cardiac MRI in Tuebingen/Germany (2001-2006) he joined King’s College London/Guy’s & St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation (2006 to 2015) as a Consultant (Lead of the Congenital Cardiac MRI Imaging Service) and clinical academic. In 2015 Dr. Greil was appointed as full Professor at the Department of Pediatrics with secondary appointments in the Department of Radiology and the Advanced Imaging Research Center at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW). He was leading the Division of Cardiology and was Co-Director of the Heart Center at UTSW Medical Center/Children’s Health, Dallas, USA from 2015 to 2020. His research interests are in diagnostic and interventional cardiac MRI and CT in patients with acquired and congenital heart disease. He published more than 165 original articles, book chapters and clinical guidelines.
