Dr. Prieto is Professor and Director for Research and Innovation at the School of Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. She is also the Director of the Millenium Institute fot Intelligent Healthcare Engineering (iHEALTH) and visiting Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering at King’s College London.
Her research focuses on pulse sequence development for data acquisition, image reconstruction, and motion estimation/correction techniques, including the developing of machine learning based solutions to address these problems. An important part of her research focuses on developing novel approaches to enable high-resolution whole-heart 3D multi-contrast cardiac MRI in a reasonable scan time and with high scan efficiency as well as on developing novel quantitative multi-parametric mapping techniques, including Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting, to enable more objective myocardial tissue characterization. She has published more than 160 journal articles, 10 book chapters, 1 book and 6 patents on these topics. Dr. Prieto has a track-record of external funding with over 40 awarded grants from EPSRC, BHF, ANID, and industry collaborations, among others.
Dr. Prieto is Associate Editor for ´Magnetic Resonance in Medicine´, a Fellow of the ISMRM, a member of the Board of Trustees of the SMRA, a non-voting member of the and the Board of Trustees of the SCMR and Program Chair of SCMR 2025.
