Yuko Tada, MD. PhD, Postdoctoral research fellow, Cardiovascular Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine
I received MD from Toyo University in 2005. I worked as an internist and cardiologist in Japan for 10 years with a clinical expertise in imaging, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. I have engaged in cardiac MRI, CT, echocardiography, nuclear imaging, and histological evaluation. I participated in more than 1000 MRI cases and 1800 CT cases at the Cardiovascular Imaging Clinic in Iidabashi (Tokyo, Japan), and the University of Tokyo. I was also trained in the histological evaluation of cardiac biopsies at Tokyo Women’s Medical University (Tokyo, Japan) from 2011 to 2014. I investigated the histology of the differentiation of macrophages in fulminant myocarditis, which won the Young Investigator’s Award in Japan’s Cardiac Biopsy conference (2011, Kyoto). As for my basic research experience, I did research on the pathogenesis and treatment of myocarditis during my doctoral course. I have been at Stanford University since April 2015, focusing on basic and translational research on molecular imaging of cardiovascular diseases. One of my current research interests is detecting myocardial inflammation in the pursuit of the potential etiology of heart failure and therapeutic options. Another interest is manganese-enhanced MRI and myocardial tissue characterization utilizing it.
