Dr. Andrea Barison is consultant cardiologist at the Fondazione CNR/Regione Toscana in Pisa (Italy) since 2013. He graduated in Medicine at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in 2005, specialized in Cardiology at the Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Department of the University of Pisa in 2009 and obtained a PhD in Translational Medicine at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in 2013. His clinical and research activities comprise cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, with a particular focus on cardiomyopathies and cardiac magnetic resonance. He is Affiliate Researcher at the Institute of Life Sciences of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy) since 2018 and Faculty Member of the PhD Programme “Health Science, Technology and Management”.
Dr. Andrea Barison is member of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), the European Association for Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) and adjunt member (question writer) of the European CMR exam board. He is also member of the European Heart Failure Association (HFA), the Working Group on Myocardial & Pericardial Diseases of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the Italian Network for Laminopathies. He is member of the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC), where he served as Chairman of the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Working Group for the years 2019-2022. As of Dec 2023, he authored 183 international publications in peer reviewed journals (H-index 35, Scopus ID 24597524200; WoS ID J-3609-2016; ORCID ID 0000-0001-9042-340X), as well as 10 chapters in several textbooks of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Imaging. He is editor of the “Case-based atlas of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance”, published by Springer in 2023 (DOI 10.1007/978-3-031-32593-9; ISBNs 978-3-03-132592-2, 978-3-03-132593-9).
