Consultant Cardiovascular MR/CT
Bambino Gesu’ Children’s Research Hospital, Italy
I was born and raised in Turin, Italy, and completed my medical education at my hometown university. My early interest in cardiovascular diseases led me to volunteer in cardiology and cardiac surgery departments during medical school. I obtained my medical qualification in 2005 with a dissertation on mitral valve surgery.
My journey into Cardiovascular MRI began when I encountered my first cardiac MRI report, recognizing its potential. This led me to specialize in Radiology with a focus on Cardiovascular MRI and CT.
I pursued a clinical and research fellowship at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, University College of London, honing my expertise in Cardiovascular Imaging, especially in congenital heart disease patients.
In 2010, I completed my Radiology training with a dissertation on Cardiac MRI for surgically corrected coronary anomalies. I hold the European Certified Level 3 Tutor designation in Cardiac MRI for congenital heart disease and have trained colleagues worldwide. With over 100 PubMed-indexed publications, I actively contribute to scientific meetings.
I've volunteered within SCMR, serving on the Peds/CHD Educational Committee, CMR2024 program committee, and as a JCMR reviewer since 2012.
Furthermore, as a member of other prominent European societies, including EACVI, ESCR, and ESPR, dealing with Cardiovascular Imaging in pediatrics and CHD, I act as a valuable bridge, connecting different groups with diverse training experiences.
I am currently the Director of the Advanced Cardiothoracic Imaging Unit in Rome, Head of the Multimodality Imaging Research Unit, an Adjunct Professor at Humanitas University in Milan, and an Editorial Board member for the Journal of Thoracic Imaging and the Congenital Heart Disease Journal. I also hold a Master's Degree in Pediatric Cardiology from Sapienza University.
