James Carr, MD, is professor of Radiology, Medicine & Biomedical Engineering and chair of the department of Radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. He previously served as vice chair for Research in Radiology and chief of cardiovascular imaging at Northwestern. He is the Drs. Frederick John Bradd and William Kennedy Memorial Professor of Radiology at Northwestern University. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Radiology in Dublin, Ireland and fellowship training in Cardiovascular MRI and Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University. He has overseen training programs in cardiovascular imaging and clinical/research MRI, for which he has mentored over 70 clinical and research fellows at Northwestern University. He has served on national, international and institutional committees related to clinical service, research and education, including those of the American Heart Association, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Cardiovascular MR and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He has had active involvement with the SCMR for over 20 years, has delivered numerous educational and scientific talks at the annual conference, has chaired and organized several sessions and was a member of the SCMR Executive Board and the Board of Trustees. He is a past president of SCMR. He is also a past president of the Society for Magnetic Resonance Angiography (SMRA), which has a formal collaboration with SCMR. He has delivered over 220 invited presentations on cardiovascular MRI and imaging in the U.S. and around the world. Dr. Carr is principal investigator or co‐investigator on multiple industry and national institute of health grants. His research focuses on the development and clinical evaluation of techniques for cardiac and vascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He has authored/co‐authored over 300 publications on cardiovascular imaging, with specific focus on time‐resolved MRA, ultrafast cardiac MRI techniques, 4D flow and mapping.
