Cardiology Professor
Stanford University
Dr. Michael Salerno MD,PhD is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) and Radiology (Cardiovascular Imaging) at Stanford University. He is the Section Chief of Cardiovascular Imaging in Cardiovascular Medicine, and the Medical Director of Echocardiography. His research involves the developement and evaluation of novel MRI pulse sequences and techniques to improve the clinical utility of CMR. His current reserach focus is on quantiative myocardial perfusion imaging, quantitative imaging of myocardial fibrosis, rapid free-breathing and self-gated imaging, and deep learning based reconstruction and post processing. Dr. Salerno has been in the field of CMR for over 25 years and holds multiple patents related to the development and application of novel pulse sequences for CMR. His lab includes both cardiovascular imaging fellows and engineers. He has been involved with SCMR since 2006, serving on multiple committees, including chairing annual meeting program, and the SCMR Board of Trustees.
