Stefan L. Zimmerman, MD is a Professor and the Diagnostic Division Chief and Director of Cardiac Imaging in the Russell H. Morgan Department of Radiology at Johns Hopkins University. His primary clinical duties are cardiothoracic and body imaging with CT and MRI. Dr. Zimmerman is an expert in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, having completed a year-long fellowship in cardiovascular imaging at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His research activities, clinical and teaching experiences cover the entire spectrum of cardiac and vascular imaging. Dr. Zimmerman’s research activities include exploring the use of cardiac MRI for quantification of atrial and ventricular fibrosis in patients undergoing ablation procedures for cardiac arrhythmias; using MRI tissue tracking techniques to identify early manifestations of myocardial disease; exploring the relationship of fat, fibrosis, and function in arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia; and technical optimization of cardiac CT examinations for maximal accuracy and dose savings.
