Postdoctoral Associate
Massachusetts Insititute of Technology
Dr. Yiling Fan is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), working with Prof. Ellen Roche in the Therapeutic Technology Design & Development (TTDD) lab. His research spans computational design, soft robotics, data-driven simulation, and advanced manufacturing, with a focus on developing patient-specific models and next-generation robotic heart systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, where he worked on computational modeling of cardiac growth and remodeling using finite element analysis and machine learning. Dr. Fan has also collaborated with industry partners such as Edwards Lifesciences and Dassault Systèmes on projects involving cardiac digital twins and in silico clinical trials. His work has been published in high-impact journals such as Science Robotics and Nature Biomedical Engineering.
