Dr Pier-Giorgio Masci is a cardiology consultant at Cardiovascular Imaging Dpt – King’s College London | Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital NHS Trust Foundation. He was fully trained in cardiology in Italy including specialised training in interventional cardiology and cardiac pacing. In 2006 he won a 1-year ESC grant to join Prof Bogaert’s team at the cardiac MRI Department of the University of Leuven (Belgium), where he received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2015. From 2007 to 2014 he was a Senior Researcher at Italian Research Council (CNR) working in the cardiac MRI Service (the largest Italian cardiac MRI centre at that time) and Cardiovascular Medicine Department where he developed a clinical and research interest in heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy. In 2015 he joined Prof Schwitter’s and Prof Stuber’s teams at University Hospital Lausanne (Switzerland), and in 2019 he moved to King’s College London where he is currently working as a consultant cardiologist in cardiac MRI with a research interest in HFpEF, hypertension, cardiometabolic diseases and ageing. He co-authored more than 140 papers in high-rank peer-reviewed journals in cardiology, cardiovascular imaging and MRI. He is regularly invited as a speaker/moderator at International Conferences in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Imaging and MRI.
