Associate Professor
Duke University Hospital
I have been faculty in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine since my first appointment in 2007. My primary career is to focus as a clinician-teacher in general Cardiology and Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CMR), and scientist with research focused on the clinical applications of CMR, introducing novel tests to improve how we diagnose cardiac diseases, and patient outcomes using this technology. I have focused my research on two major topics, one the development, validation, and application of vasodilator stress CMR, and two the use of CMR for risk-stratification of sudden-cardiac death. With regard to the former, the cardiac MRI stress test was established at Duke as a direct result of my research, and has been performed since then in over 8000 patients, while serving as model for numerous other institutions.
