B. Professional Statement
As one of the few NIH (UAB) trained Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging specialist, Director of the CMR facility at AGH, Director of a CMR Core Laboratory that has served several major international trials, and a physician who routinely performs and reads echocardiography examinations, I have developed a clinical and research insight into the utility of advanced imaging as applied towards the solution of a number of vexing problems. Via such application, CMR has been utilized by our lab to answer important physiologic questions regarding aortic stenosis (AHA), the NHLBI sponsored STICH Trial of heart failure; the largest NHLBI initiative to date, the LIFE trial evaluating hypertensive heart disease and the NHLBI-WISE trial. Working with Dr. Mark Doyle for almost 15 years, we have sought to apply rarified uses of imaging technologies, including CMR for ever expanding clinical indications. Imaging has afforded opportunities to consider applying alternative strategies to minimize certain inefficiencies and inexactudes in treating the patient. I have considerations applied in a manner seeking to redefine the clinical pathway; aiming to craft a more robust and dynamic decision making which will be more responsive and flexible to benefit the patient.
