Victor A. Ferrari, MD, MSCMR, FACC, FAHA, FASE, FRCP (Lond., Hon.) is a Professor of Medicine in the Departments of Medicine and Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) School of Medicine, the inaugural Chair of the Penn Cardiovascular Imaging Council, the immediate past Director of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) for the Penn Cardiovascular Institute, and the past Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at the Hospital of the UPenn. He took his BSEE at Drexel University, and his MD, residency, and cardiology/CMR fellowships at UPenn. As a faculty member at Penn, he has won 6 teaching awards from the Department of Medicine housestaff and cardiology fellows, including the Mark E. Josephson Cardiovascular Medicine Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award. His clinical skills have been recognized by the William Smilow Award for Innovation in Clinical Excellence, as well as a Patient Advocacy Award, and he is a Philadelphia Magazine Top Doctor. He is the recipient of the 2019 Radhika Srinivasan Award for Humanism and Professionalism in Medicine. Dr. Ferrari is a Founding Member and a Past President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). He is the Inaugural Chair of the Certification Board for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, responsible for developing the first international board certification exam in CMR. He is a Past Chair for the ISMRM’s Cardiac MR Study Group. He served on the Cardiac Imaging Committee of the American Heart Association and is a Past Chair of the Imaging Council of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), and a past member of the ACC Board of Governors. He served on several writing committees that produced imaging-related clinical competency and scientific statements. His research interests include noninvasive assessment of right and left ventricular function, ventricular remodeling, atherosclerotic plaque imaging, high field imaging, and imaging of rodent models of cardiac diseases.
