Dr. Ron Blankstein is the co-director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Training Program, director of Cardiac Computed Tomography and a preventive cardiology specialist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In addition, he is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Harvard Medical School. His clinical interests focus on the evaluation and management of coronary artery disease, prevention of cardiovascular disease, and diagnosis and treatment of cardiac sarcoidosis. His imaging and research expertise involve cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Blankstein has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications. His research has focused on how to use the results of cardiovascular imaging tests in improving patient outcomes and how to select between different cardiovascular imaging modalities in clincal care and in research. Dr. Blankstein serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the Board of Directors of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and the Board of Directors of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Computed Tomography. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and serve on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology and Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging.
