Barbara E. Burkhardt, MD

Pediatric Cardiologist

Barbara Burkhardt, MD PD, is a Pediatric Cardiologist with advanced training and was the first fellow to graduate from UTSW Medical Center's Congenital Cardiac MRI program in Dallas, TX, USA. She also holds the European Association for Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) level 3 certificate for Congenital CMR.
She completed pediatric residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, USA and pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Freiburg, Germany and the University of Zurich, Switzerland and is practicing at the University of Zurich Children's Hospital in Switzerland. Her research interests include the clinical evaluation of new sequences and tools and the role of imaging in specific congenital heart diseases. She has presented her science at several SCMR and ISMRM meetings and has authored multiple CMR publications. Dr. Burkhardt has been a member of the SCMR Pediatric/Congenital Heart Disease steering committee and liaison for the early career subcommittee for the past three years.
