Attending Physician
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
Nazia Husain, MBBS, MPH, FSCMR. I am currently the Medical Director for Clinical and Translational CMR/CT in the Heart Center at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago/Northwestern University. I am a board-certified pediatric cardiologist with clinical expertise in congenital heart disease (CHD) and non-invasive cardiac imaging. My overall goal as a patient-oriented researcher is to expand the use of non-invasive cardiac imaging in pediatric heart disease with an aim to improve screening strategies for monitoring of heart disease. My clinical focus has been in developing imaging protocols in various pediatric heart diseases including stress cardiac imaging in children. My research focus has been in the use of CMR for surveillance following pediatric heart transplantation, in those with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other myocardial diseases. I am strong advocate of trainee education and mentorship. In the recent years, I have learned a lot about the practice of CMR in the US and around the world with my role in the SCMR Advocacy committee.
