Dr. Dorfman is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Radiology at the University of Michigan. He attended medical school at the University of Michigan prior to moving to Boston to undergo pediatric residency and cardiology fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital. After a senior fellowship in non-invasive imaging and 2 years on faculty, he returned to U of M to become the co-director of congenital and pediatric cardiovascular MRI at the Michigan Congenital Heart Center. He is now the Director of non-invasive imaging for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at U of M. His primary research and clinical activities involve non-invasive imaging of the heart in children and adults with congenital heart disease. His research interests are primarily related to the assessment of ventricular function in congenital heart disease, with a particular interest in the assessment of function and physiology in single ventricle heart disease and in tetralogy of Fallot. In addition, he is involved in collaborative research with Engineering to create multiscale models for better understanding of the cardiovascular system in pediatric and congenital heart disease.
Dr. Dorfman has been a member of SCMR since his fellowship, and is the Past Chair of the SCMR Pediatric/Congenital Executive Committee. He has presented widely at meetings throughout the United States and internationally, including invited presentations and research at many SCMR Scientific Sessions. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.
