Dr Roest is a staff cardiologist at the Willem Alexander Children’s Hospital of the Leiden University Medical Center and he is the director of the MRI and CT program in pediatric heart disease.
He did his medical school at the LUMC and graduated in 2003. During medical school he spent 3 years at the department of Radiology of the LUMC under supervision of Prof Albert de Roos for his PhD training in MRI of Congenital heart disease. His first two years of paediatric training took place at Juliana’s Childrens Hospital in The Hague and the final part of the training took place at the Leiden University Medical Center.
In 2007 he started his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Center for Congenital Heart Disease Amsterdam Leiden (CAHAL), from February 2007 until December 2007 at the LUMC, from January 2008 until july 2008 at the Academical Medical Center, Amsterdam, NL and the final part of his training took place at the LUMC.
In 2010 he joined the clinical staff of the pediatric cardiology division of the Willem-Alexander Children’s Hospital with non-invasive imaging in pediatric heart disease as his expertise with special focus on the application of 4D flow MRI in congenital heart disease.
He is author of over 100 original articles and several book chapters.
