I graduated in 1999 from the University Miguel Hernández (Alicante, Spain) with an Extraordinary Award Bachelor of Medicine. I then completed cardiology and imaging training at Vall Hebrón Hospital (Barcelona, Spain) and pursued a research fellowship in MRI and Cardiac-CT at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago, Illinois, USA). I earned a Ph.D. in CMR from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, graduating "cum laude."
Since 2007, I have been responsible for the education and training of Residents and International Fellows in CMR and CT at Vall Hebrón Hospital. Additionally, I have led research projects in CMR/CT, publishing several high-impact papers.
Currently, I am the Head of the Cardiovascular Imaging Unit at Vall Hebrón Hospital and an Associate Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I serve as the Elected-Chair of the Working Group on Aortic Diseases and Peripheral Vessels of the European Society of Cardiology. My past roles include President of the Valve and Aortic Diseases Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and Coordinator of the CMR and CT Working Group of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. I am a member of various committees, including the European CMR board of the EACVI, Clinical Practice Committee of the SCMR, Registry Committee of the SCMR, Scientific Initiatives Committee of the EACVI, and the EACVI CMR and Laboratory CMR Accreditation boards, as well as the Educational Committee of the SCCT.
I have contributed significantly to the EuroCMR Section and the Spanish Society of Cardiology, serving as abstract chair at CMR 2018, program chair at EuroCMR 2019, abstract chair at EACVI 2020, and local host in EACVI 2023. Additionally, I co-direct the annual imaging courses at Vall Hebrón Hospital.
